Do you think only a married couple should consider a vasectomy?

I know I shouldn't belive what i see on tv but i see that wives usually ask their husbands for them to get a vasectomy. I've also seen talk shows where single men get them. I always thought tha it was just married people. I would never make my husband do that, in my opinion. Do you think married couples alone should have to do that.
