I followed the instructions of How to Put a Link in an Email and it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I copied the URL of the link that I want to include in my email. I highlighted the word or words that I want to be "clickable" . I clicked the little button that is a globe with a link (looks like a paper clip) on it. It brought up a window where I pasted the URL into the right side. I hit okay. BUT THE LINK IS NOT CLICKABLE. Am I missing something?
