Why do my parents get mad when I tell them I want a vasectomy?

I'm a 17 year old boy who would rather be successful in life than have children, and a vasectomy would make sure of that. Compared to the roughly 200,000 dollars it costs to raise a child these days, 600 dollars for a medical procedure is a much better choice. But why should this bother them?
